Potluck dinner!
Aislinn: Pancit, BBQ, soda's
Tina: Savory Chicken
Lea: Sushi platter
Louise: Cake
My whole December event, believe it or not are blocked off a month ahead. And it's exciting to see you longest friends and your best friends that you don't get to see often. Well, we at least have an effort to set once a month dinner. This happens every time Aislinn is in town, since she's already Bataan based. 8 in the group.Manila-based: Jojo, Lea, Tina and Arlene. Bataan based: Aislinn. California based: Kahlil and Jenny. on the 8th spot who never showed up for the longest time if i didn't exert effort to reach out, she would prolly won't reunite with us. So what i did is, before I could actually get her to be in the group again, i had to meet with her na kame muna, build rapport again, kse its been a long time, so i'm not quite sure if things are still the same like before. After our meeting, i invited her to our dinner, she's part of our barkada after all and i'm sure the rest of the girls want to hear from her again. ok so it was just the 4 of us: Aislinn, Tina, Louise and me. Unfortunately, half of the barkada can't make it. Jojo is spending Christmas with 2 Kahlil and Jenny in California. (California girls playing while i'm writing my blog haha). Arlene that time had a gig.
Our spouses were with us, except for Antonio(Tina's BF) who spent Christmas with his Family in the States. Yearly, it has been a tradition for potluck dinners at Aislinn's, they have seminarians who do Christmas Carol's for them, and a priest who'll come bless the family and friends. If you are a Devout Catholic and your parents or your family brought yo to church for simbang gabi and host a party after mass, you'll appreciate this activity. I remember when i was younger in Ilocos on Christmas season my lola Lita(paternal grandmother-if there's such word, may maternal nga eh di may paternal din haha) would prepare a big box or green big tupperware case with many compartments with new paper bills at denominations starting at 2php(yes naabutan ko pa yun pati 5 and 10) 20php, 50,100,and the latest at 200. And we have a designated distant relative who helps out in the house to give the pamasko everytime someone would do Christmas carols at home "karoling". pag kids coins, pag matanda solo or mag asawa ganito, pag big group bigger amount, kaya never ko natutunang magsabi ng patawad pag may nag cacarol sa house lagi dapat meron, kse sharing daw yun. ngayon nalang ako natutuo magkuripot haha. Back to my story, after eating dinner the priests and seminarians arrived. They were great, and done a justin bieber carol din ang cute haha, parang glee! Then came the blessing and pictorials.
I let Louise have more time with the two girls, para they can all have time to talk. In our group we never get mad, we in fact want to reach out as much as we could to an old friend, no questions ask...but one our frist meeting, i had to ask Louise. Then i made kwento to the girls, kaya when the time we had our party, parang dati lang, kwentuhan and all that, nothings' changed on Louise, they often call us the Chipmunks kase maingay madaldal kame pareho and were the smallest sa classroom. Aislinn was busy catching up with Louise. Were grateful to have this dinner get together at Aislinn's place in Banawe. May exchange gifts din kame and all that, pero nung kumpleto pa kme may bunutan pa and minimum of 500php yung gift with matching wishlist haha. Pero 2010 Christmas party wala na, we just gave each other presents, no tag. nabasawan kame kse yung dalawa namin barkada nsa states na pero nagbalik loob na yun isa kaya maganda naman and very blessed and Christmas namin :)
